Gearlinux updates, linux-6.17.8, openssh-10.2, openssl-3.6.0, …
Gearlinx runs a semi fixed release schedule as part of its strong commitment to it's customers, including OEMs. This schedule sees four releases per year across all platforms. As part of this schedule, the linux kernel, as well as all critical libraries and applications are reviewed and updated with an emphasis on security fixes, CVEs and critical bugs. The schedule enforces a maximum delay for software updates of three months. Critical point releases happen mid-cycle if more urgency is required.
In preparation for the next release, Gearlinux has moved to linux-6.17.8, openssh-10.2, openssl-3.6.0, lighttpd-1.4.82 and fscryptctl-1.3.0 to name a few. Gearlinux regularly updates to ensure currency costs little more than a minor update. The seemingly major changes for this release adding a relatively small task to the release load as they are little more than incremental updates.
Gearlinux is now in the release testing phase and on track for the December release time.
