Gearlinux grows to embrace new opportunities

Gearlinx and Advanced Converter Solutions (ACS) have partnered to bring Gearlinux, Gearlinx' industry leading cloud and edge solution, to the DC/DC Converter market.

ACS approached Gearlinx earlier in 2025 to see if a software solution could created to support the new ACS Comms platform for managing up to 96 DC/DC Converters via CAN bus. The project required Gearlinux to be expanded in several new areas, CAN Bus, Modbus, Time series data storage/graphing and a new hardware architecture.

Gearlinx has worked closely with ACS on both hardware and software over the course of the project culminating recently with the first customer shipment of ACS product. Gearlinux rose to the occasion again proving that no market or technology is beyond it's capabilities, specifically rapid development and deployment of mature, stable and secure product in record time.

The Gearlinx solution for ACS provides a full standalone firmware system with management and monitoring of the DC/DC converter stack with an "opt-in" subscription based cloud model for customers who want to unify their deployments and firmware management across multiple sites or continents.

ACS CEO, Bernie Walsh, stated "Working with Gearlinx has been simple and straight forward. Their experience on the software and hardware issues and their Gearlinux platform has allowed us to deploy a robust full featured product cost effectively, and in a time frame we never thought possible".

The Gearlinux firmware benefits from over two decades of development and experience. Gearlinx prides itself on keeping all firmware up to date with kernel, library and application patches and updates. Gearlinx are the experts for embedded Linux deployments. The same firmware deployed for our customers is used on our NR and Duckfone platforms. All improvements made to Gearlinux benefit all our customers.
